The motor doesn't miss, it's in the transmission only. Coast and as it starts slowing, apply light braking. Hard to believe since I found a bunch of blogs about the same issue. That got replaced and still got the ticking sound. I spoke with the dealer that I had purchased the truck from and he said that it was a common problem. The truck now has 72000 miles on it and the trasmittion needs to be replaced. First and last Chevy I will ever buy. They supposedly fix it, the next day it was doing the same thing. Previous mechanic performed 50k transmission service and replaced fluid with full synthetic. Another possibility, if it is four wheel drive, pull the transfer case fill plug with the vehicle on level ground. After reading some of the complaints online, I suspect that once I take it for repair I will be told it is the sun shell and corresponding gears. I always am having it service to make sure I don't break down like keeping up with the oil and stuff, keeping it washed and waxed. And a bad brake switch can cause lockup to dissengage but not overdrive so you know. Poor design, mud, snow, ice trapped on to shifter cable and safety switch, then they freeze into position and also causes safety switch to malfunction and go bad.
I feel that the saftey of my family and any other family is well worth the cost of replacing this defective part. The automatic door locks are nice but the passenger lock is broken and makes a loud noise. I had to have my transmission rebuilt and the transmission shop said that it was a common problem and that gm has come out with a revised part that is hardend. Dealer fixed and said the found a pinhole by the windshield. Was getting service system soon error code. The 4 wheel drive is defective. Took truck home, still leaks transmission fluid. I have 28,000 miles and it has been in for repairs regularly, the most recent it had check engine light on and it has been in shop for over a month.
